Leah is a multi disciplinary visual artist (including mask and puppet making), a performance artist and puppeteer.
Her main focus in painting is the exploration of colour, and she works mainly with acrylics. Leah’s style of paintings combines colour and form to open the door to the viewer’s inner feelings, as opposed to telling a narrative or replicating realism with a picture alone. Leah’s works fall into the category of ‘colour field painting’.
Another element of her style is using multiple layers, sometimes painting the equivalent if three or more paintings for a single finished work. And there are many windows to the previous layers allowing the viewer to journey through the creative process.
Leah’s paintings are in very high demand with showings in Red Hot Pots, Komel Jewelers, the Capitol Theatre and Hourglass Gallery, and Hazeldean Gallery, all in Nelson. She was also one of the feature artists in the very successful Winter Garden art show in Gray Creek and was a feature artist in Kootenay Carnival Magazine.
You will also see Leah spinning fire and stilt walking as part of High Point Performances, as well as doing performance art and kid’s entertaining with her dragon puppets across Canada.
